My two weeks holidays is coming to a close, and as much as I complain and love being on holidays, I really do love going back to school, seeing the kiddies again and getting stuck into some great activities. Here is my Doodle Bugs Teaching Five for Friday:
These holidays were all about family. Last week I mentioned I was off to my Grandma’s 90th Birthday Party – this is one of my favourite photos from the day. My Grandma is in the red. The family had given her an iPad for her birthday and loaded up some photos of my cousins wedding – she is showing her sister (in purple aged 91) and some friends the photos. My brother is apparently in the process of setting up pinterest on her iPad so she can follow me! Funny!
An Uncle had a birthday too! Grandma made a sponge cake and I decorated it! It wasn’t particularly even but I will do a better job next time! All I did was cut out the 5’s out of baking paper, put on the cake, put sprinkles all around the outside
This beautiful rose has come out in the last week. Our new house has over 30 roses, and we already had 5 in pots. This is one R bought me last year (a plant is a gift that keeps on giving he said – awwww) and we hadn’t seen it out properly yet. Isn’t it beautiful!
I thought I had run out of TEA! Oh no, me, run out of TEA! Well it wasn’t out of tea compleletely, because lets face it, a quarter of the pantry is tea – but it was a special sort of tea. Then yesterday, da dah – there it was my lovely “Gorgeous Geisha” tea – I knew I had stocked up last time we went to the city!
This is a boring picture, I know – this is the after picture, the before picture I am too ashamed of – my ironing pile had gotten out of control – there were long pants in the ironing, I haven’t worn long pants to school since last year! But I am celebrating because the basket is now EMPTY! It was my Friday’s job though – hopefully I can stay on top of it now.
I also worked on heaps of resources, tidying up, adding pages and photos but will share these tomorrow.
Don’t forget about our fundraiser for Bundaberg East Primary School, a school severely affected by the floods and storms that hit Queensland earlier in the year. Click on the photo below to download over 500 pages for only $15. Thank you!

I loved your after photo of your ironing, heehee. I hate ironing so I iron as I go, rather than spend the hours it would take me. I also have been known to throw things in the dryer for half an hour to get the wrinkles out. How cool is your Grandma!!

I knew I needed a dryer! I need to do bits and pieces, I will start from now! Just emailed Grandma on the iPad – she is very cool!
You have a cupboard 1/4 full of tea, too? (T2, no less!)
I've been going through tea recently… may need to restock up on my Peppermint and Buddha's Tears. I haven't tried Gorgeous Geisha, though. May try that one next time. 🙂
Love the photo of your Grandma!

LOVE TEA Stef! I have a bit of a problem now I don't live an hour from Southland – online ordering for me! I love it as it gets cooler and I can just drink tea all day!
I'm back at school on Monday too… those 2 weeks of holidays sure do fly past! 🙂
Good luck for your first few days.

Thanks Lauren!
Ok the picture of Grandma is ADORABLE!! How cool she is with her iPad. The rose is beautiful. Cracking up at the basket! I do not like ironing so I know how it feels to have a pile! Have fun the last days of your break!

Wow, Happy Birthday to your Grandma! That is awesome. Also, congrats on clearing out your ironing stack, lol! I NEVER iron. I try not to buy things that will require it, but if something does require it, I usually just either wear it wrinkled (if it's not TOO awful) or just never wear it! I am SO LAZY about ironing. I even found some slacks at The Limited that are machine wash and dry and are wrinkle-free! 🙂

Alison,
I found you through the Five4Friday link up. Really cool about the 90th birthday, my grandparents turn that this year too.
And since your from Australia I have to ask you this question. I just read an article on Cane Toads and saw that they were originally released around Queenslands and that they're now considered more of a hazard than their original intent (to eat beatles on the cane). Is this true or this just some American lore? Like they say "don't let the facts get in the way of a good story".
sorry this is out of left field 🙂

Alison,
Thanks for the link. I ended up reading a lot more about just the toads. I gotta say that it looks like australia is the place to be for animal variety. We just have coyotes and geese (and people complain about those). Thanks again
Matt
I love the picture of your Grandma on her new iPad – so very cute!
I'm also very sad about the holidays ending but I'm also so excited to see their little faces when they walk into the room tomorrow morning.
