Today’s game is Make this Number. You need both dice and a deck of cards to play. It develops skills in adding and subtracting using playing cards to reach the number rolled on the dice. You can also extend to being able to use multiplication and division.

Thanks Gina!
I am doing post-grad study to become a teacher and I have been studying maths this semester, when I came across your brilliant blog. I have been playing some of these games with my kids (year 4 and Kindergarten). They are so simple but my kids absolutely love them and beg to play them every day. We have been having so much fun and the increase in my (year 4) daughter's confidence and skills has been fantastic. My son, who is in Kindergarten, is very good with numbers but in the space of 3 weeks he has self-investigated at least 3 different strategies for adding and subtraction and has been able to verbalise his thinking. He has become so quick in his thinking that I find it hard to beat him now.
We especially love the games that involve packs of cards and I now carry at least one pack with me every where we go and the kids love to find a few spare minutes to have a game with afternoon tea in food courts around Sydney!.
Thanks so much for all your hard work, we really appreciate it.

Awww Penny, thanks so much for the beautiful comment! You have made me blush! It is so wonderful to hear the games are being downloaded, played and enjoyed by so many, especially that they are begging to play it again and again. How wonderful that your children have gained in confidence, skills and thinking just by playing maths games!
I really appreciate your lovely comment!
